The auger (the screw inside the feed tube) is the mechanism that pulls pellets up from the hopper and then drops them into the firepot.  The auger is designed to prevent pellet jams from occurring.  However, foreign objects in the hopper (such as toys,  scissors - see below) or "clumps" of pellets (such as if they had become wet, "clumped together" then dried), can cause auger jams.

If the message displays that it is jammed, you will want to check for obstructions at the bottom of the auger/feed tube (you will probably need to remove the pellets from the hopper to see it clearly).  Customers often find that they can clear an obstruction on their own once they see the bottom of the tube.   If that does not clear it, refer to your owners manual for next steps in checking the feed tube and the auger, or contact Enchanted Fireside for service.
